Heaton Park is a great estate with lots to do for all the family:


The Tramway Museum - take a tram ride on most Sundays and bank holidays. Tickets £1, children 50p. The museum is near the Middleton Road entrance.


Hire Rowboats April to September, Between 12noon and 4pm, £8.50 for up to 4 people for 45 minutes.


The children’s play area is undergoing a full refurbishment and should be open from summer 2016. Most of the current pieces of play equipment are being replaced or restored and there will be a new area with additional facilities.


Set in the old stables, you can see a variety of animals including: alpacas, chickens, cows, goats, guinea pigs, peacocks and sheep. You can also see highland cattle and horses around the park.

Open April to September - 10.30am to 6pm, October to March - 10.30am to 3pm.


There are cafes at the stable block and the boathouse. They serve drinks and hot and cold food including salads, sandwiches cake’s and honey made in the park. Open 8am to 6pm every day. Last orders for hot food at 5pm.


The Hidden Gem cafe at Heaton Park garden centre serves coffee and teas with homemade organic cakes and pastries. Open 9.30am to 4.30pm every day. Or take a picnic!
